2023 Ownership Transition | A Message from Alan & Julie Pope
ANNOUNCEMENT: Bedford, IN December 9, 2022
The year 2023 marks Blacktail Bow Company’s 32nd year in business within the Traditional Archery segment. A sincere ‘Thank You’ goes out to all of our wonderful customers (the ‘Blacktail family’) who have made this milestone possible! We are proud of the collective work our TEAM has accomplished — pushing the boundaries of creativity, innovation and craftsmanship. Building on this foundation, we’re excited to begin the next chapter with good news.
We are pleased to announce (beginning January 6th, 2023), ownership of Blacktail Bow Company, LLC will transition to our dedicated and loyal bowyers, Mr. Kip Shipley and Mr. Chris Marrs.
Julie & I (as business owners) have thoroughly enjoyed our roles managing the administrative, marketing and customer services aspects of our company over the last decade. However, we are not bowyers — the amazing craftsmanship of Blacktail bows must be credited to our extremely talented bowyers (Kip Shipley and Chris Marrs). Without their foundational contributions over the years, Blacktail Bows would not be the company it is today.

As we move forward, the same Master craftsmen who have actually been building Blacktail bows behind the scenes, will remain hands-on in the workshop as Owner-operators of the company they love and helped to build.
So, from the customer perspective, it is reassuring to know that the world-class quality craftsmanship Blacktail Bow Company is known for will remain unchanged. Additionally, Julie & I will remain involved with the company in an advisory/consultative capacity, to help ensure a seamless and smooth operational transition. |
Kip & Chris are truly gifted craftsmen, avid bow hunters and solid family men. They are also men of faith and character, so we know they will operate Blacktail Bow Company with the highest degree of honor and integrity. Because of this, it is with great confidence and sincere happiness, that we extend to these fine men the opportunity to lead Blacktail into the future, as Owners.
It has been our honor to serve a small part in the Traditional Archery story and we look forward to seeing great things from the next generation of Blacktail leadership in the future!
