The T2 Special Edition series bows are made with some of our planet's most exotic woods.
What are Tier-2 (T2) Woods?
T2 is our designation for wood species that require considerably more labor and acquisition expense (to source, select, prepare and/or work with) in specialized bow-building applications. Our industry-leading lifetime riser warranty dictates uncompromising material preparation, which becomes significantly more involved with T2 woods. T2 woods include for example: Tiger Stripe Myrtle, Gaboon Ebony, Black & White Ebony, exhibition-grade burls and other extremely rare and/or labor intensive exotic woods. The price level of T2 bows reflects these considerations accordingly.
T2 Series bows (whether in the Elite or Sitka riser configurations) are built to the same design standards and superior craftsmanship that has become the trademark of the entire Blacktail line of custom bows. They are as functional as they are beautiful and come standard with Blacktail's signature footed riser, footed limbs and bamboo limb cores. The bow can be finished in satin (standard) or a sumptuous high gloss finish, upon request.

Innovation: Introduced in 2019, our T2 Series —'Trout Hide Edition' was another industry first. Inspired by nature —these bows are built with a specially prepared epoxy-impregnated, stabilized Australian Banksia Grandis wood. The result is a tantalizing material—with an amazing visual pattern similar to the appearance of a jeweled trout.
